Call to Order

Brad called the meeting to order at 7:04 pm, and led us in the Pledge of Allegiance

Roll Call                                                                       -Lane Heatherwick

Lane called the roll. There were 10 directors, and 24 members and guests present.

Secretary's Report                                                     -Andy Rousonelos

Brad asked if everyone had received their minutes, and if there were any additions or corrections. Jerry made a motion to accept the minutes as published. Jean seconded that motion, and it was passed by all present.

Treasure's Report                                                       -Fred Lestina

Fred reported we had income including $300 from show banners, $840 from the flea market, and $225 towards the showbook. Expenses included $85 for more show brochures, and $736 for more cattle panels, $400 was covered by a donation. Ron made a motion to accept the report as read, it was seconded by Dave, and it was passed by all present.

Old Business

Brad reported that Bob Satterlee passed away at 89 years old, and Al Klausing passed away at 66. We had good representation at Bob’s Funeral, with several members there to pay respects, and Fred played Taps at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery for Bob.

Sandy DeLair sent notes that we are now up to 7 food vendors, and the food court is full.

Al Heatherwick reported that he and Rodney Bettenhausen are working on the show layout, and will be ready to start marking the areas out for setup in July. If there are any other changes needed for the layout, please speak to Alan.

Dan Lowe has purchased the wireless audio system to use at the show, and would like to set it up on Wednesday before the show to make adjustments.

Brad reported that the tents are lined up for the show, and the tent company has honored the same price on our tents for 5 years running. H&R Pump Co has sponsored our horse tent this year.

The Petone Consignment sale went well, and we sold 149 pedal tractor tickets and 127 toy tickets. That makes a grand total of 1477 tickets sold so far this year. Thanks to Russ, Charlie, Jeannie, Ron, Dave, Jack, and Chuck for their help at the fair.

New Business

Lane brought in maps of the tractor drive route to be shared. The route will be between 40-44 miles, depending on weather conditions. Brian is lined up to roast a hog for lunch, and all riders will receive a hat and a magnet. All Township road commissioners have been contacted about the ride with no complaints. We will also be passing Burns Woods, one of our old showgrounds on the ride. John Kestel and Fred Lestina will host our breaks, and Steve Issert is hosting lunch in his shop. Ron and Jay will man the tool truck, Jim and Larry will man the porta-john trailer, Pam is taking pictures, Bob, Bev, and Jean will help with setup for our breaks and lunch. The ride is advertised online,, on Facebook, and in the Farmers Weekly review.

Kim has sent in all payment she has received so far from the flea market. It will be full, and she has more vendors waiting if there are any no-shows.

Brad reviewed the worklist for the show, to remind the chairpersons that now is the time to start looking for helpers for the many tasks at the show. Remember, many hands make for less work.

Brad has spoken to the National Massey Club, and they are interested in coming to our show. Many of their members would like to come and plow if there is enough wheat ground.

Brian is working on the showbook, and we need advertisements. They make a great bundle deal with a farm banner!

It is time to pick the King and Queen for our show this year, and Lane and Linda Heatherwick were nominated. They will lead our parade at the show every day.

Jess reported that we need volunteers to signup to help sell show merchandise. It has been suggested that we offer a free t-shirt with a half day shift selling merch. Please let her or Brad know if you would like to help. She also mentioned that last year Fred donated the key chain flashlights to be given away to members, would anyone like to donate towards a small item this year?

Bob picked up next year’s pedal tractor to raffle off, AHW has donated another pedal tractor.

The Balloon lady was a big hit with the kids last year; Fred is checking into having another one. Kim may have one lined up in the flea market.

Dave Karl stopped into Altorfer, the local Caterpillar dealer, to invite them to the show. They are very interested in coming, since it is the 100th anniversary of Cat. They are already familiar with the Spiess Farm and are considering bringing a small display like Rendell’s has.
