Call to Order
Brad called the meeting to order at 7:03pm, and led us in the Pledge of Allegiance
Roll Call -Lane Heatherwick
Lane called the roll. There were 11 directors, and 30 members and guests present.
Secretary's Report -Andy Rousonelos
Brad asked if everyone had received their minutes, and if there were any additions or corrections. Steve made a motion to accept the minutes as published. Hank seconded that motion, and it was passed by all present.
Treasure's Report -Fred Lestina
Fred reported we had income including a $400 in show banner sales, and $70 from show magnets, and $396 from raffle tickets sales at the Peotone auction. Expenses included $2,078 for the 6 month premium on our insurance. Ron made a motion to accept the report as read, it was seconded by Jean, and it was passed by all present.
Old Business
Brad was pleased to return this month, healing up well with his new knee. He also reported that John Cronin is doing well and appreciates visitors anytime they are in Joliet. Monroe is healing up from his Lymphoma treatments. Jeff Brandau had his gall bladder removed successfully a few days before the tractor drive and is also doing well.
Lane was pleased to report that there were 32 tractors on the Tractor Drive, with 8 carrying riders. Speed was an issue causing gaps in the group, but the sheriffs department made sure everyone made it to each destination safely. Despite rain early in the morning, it made for a great day for a ride. The tour at Rad Rides was a big hit, and we appreciate their allowing us to see their work in progress. Anyone who did not receive a hat or magnet at the ride should see Lane. Thank you to all the ladies who made cookies and treats for the breaks, and to Lane, Jim, and Andy for their work planning the route and the stops.
The wheat is looking better as the weather has improved. There may be enough for combining after all, but the final decision will be made after the racks are loaded for threshing.
Eric R and Steve are in the process of planning a sawmill shed at Steve’s to allow us to put up the Meadows sawmill and leave it in place year-round. This project will start after the show, with the sawmill placement during the show being a trial.
The new TSC store in Monee is looking forward to our TSC Tractor Discovery Day. Eugene will come from the New Lenox store to help.
Brad reported that there are 2 toy vendors signed up for the show, with a third one as a possibility.
The Green Club has decided to sell their trailer and will not hold a booth at our show moving forward. They are planning their veterans’ home ride for Friday, June 12 from Jim Morgan’s shop.
Breakfast will still be served in the food tent before the show, but the cost has increased $2 per meal to keep with the rising supply costs. The 4-H group has also confirmed that they will serve the appreciation dinner.
The flea market is continuing to fill up, although Kim has spaces available for more vendors. Ralph S reported that he will have a booth in the flea market again this year and will help members sell items if they are too busy to sell during the show.
New Business:
We are planning to attend the 4th of July parades in both Manhattan and Beecher this year to try and expand our local advertising. Please volunteer if you can help pass out fliers or candy at either event. Bob & Charlie will head up the parade in Manhattan, and Jeff & Lane will lead our parade group at Beecher.
Brian has submitted a proof of the Calendar and is working on the showbook.
Brad reviewed the show work list, with the only change noted that Jim LaMore will be the plowing chairman this year.
Show setup will be Sunday July 12-Wednesday July 15. Please come out and help, many hands make for less work.
Brad reminded everyone to keep up the good work obtaining sponsors.
New member Richard Thomas from Roselle was introduced. He owns several portable steam engines, as well as the demonstration baler from the 1896 World’s Fair
Adjournment:
Jerry made a motion to adjourn the meeting. It was seconded by Dave and was passed by all present.
