Call to Order

Lane called the meeting to order at 7:00pm, and led us in the Pledge of Allegiance

Lane called the roll. There were 9 directors, and 30 members and guests present.

Secretary's Report -Andy Rousonelos

Brad asked if everyone had received their minutes, and if there were any additions or corrections. Russ made a motion to accept the minutes as published. Dave seconded that motion, and it was passed by all present.

Treasure's Report -Fred Lestina

Fred reported we had income including a $320 donation towards our 2027 pedal tractor to raffle of, and $50 in dues. Expenses included $75 to renew our membership with the Peotone Chamber of Commerce, and $575 for new posters, ½ sheets, and 3x5 cards. Jerry made a motion to accept the report as read, it was seconded by Pat, and it was passed by all present.

Old Business

Lane ran the meeting in Brad’s absence. He had a knee replacement the morning of the meeting, which Fred reported went well and Brad was recovering at home. Lane also reported that John Cronin is doing well and appreciates visitors anytime they are in Joliet. Monroe is healing up from his Lymphoma treatments. Jack Toepper was pleased to be back for another meeting and seems to be improving all the time. Larry Marek has been slowly healing up from a Hip replacement. It was also mentioned that Dan Phelan passed away, he was a member of our show.

Fred brought in a Thank You from Tractors for a Cure for our donation back of our winnings at the cash bash.

Please submit your current or historical club photos and memories for the calendar and the show book. Brian is continuing to work on both.

Russ reported that we sold 348 pedal tractor raffle tickets and 127 toy raffle tickets at the Peotone Consignment Sale. There was a good crowd, and they ran out of tickets to sell before the day was over. Thanks to Russ, Sharon, Ron, Chuck, and Charlie for their help.

Lane expects the replacement threshing machine for the sign at Steve’s should be ready to haul in very soon.

Bob brought in pictures of the new basketball game for the kids area made from a gravity wagon. Thanks to Bob and Russ for their work on it, and to Fred and Paul for the donation of the wagon.

The porta-johns have been confirmed for the tractor drive and the show.

New Business:

We are planning to attend the 4th of July parades in both Manhattan and Beecher this year to try and expand our local advertising. Please volunteer if you can help pass out fliers or candy at either event.

Lane gave an update on the June 6 tractor ride. The tour at Rad Rods is on, and there will be 2 cars there on display that were used for speed trials at the Salt Flats out west. Each participant will receive the usual Hat and Commemorative Magnet. The lunch menu at the Legion will be a hot ham sandwich, hamburger, chicken sandwich, or fish sandwich.

The TSC Tractor Discovery Day will be held on June 20 at the new Monee Store, Eugene will be there to help out that day. The parking lot is very large to accommodate trailers and the tractors for the event.

Lane reminded everyone that the show will be July 16 through 19, and setup days will be July 11-15. Many hands make for less work, and we have been very fortunate to have smooth setup days for the last several years.

Sandy confirmed that the 4-h group will still be cooking the meat for the appreciation dinner on the Thursday of the show. She also will be looking into a breakfast for the show again like we had last year, which seemed to be a hit. She helps to organize the Manhattan Car Cruise and will be putting our fliers into the goodie bags given to participants. It will also be held on June 6, with a parade and a golf cart raffle to benefit Project Fire Buddies.

Jess couldn’t make the meeting, but sent in her notes. She is looking into button up shirt options for general WCTA merchandise, as well as WCTA notepads like we handed out to sponsors last year. She is also working on the tractor drive magnet and had designs and ads for Farmers Weekly Review. Peotone will be having a touch-a-truck on August 4th for National Night Out and has invited us. Please consider signing up to take a tractor.
