February 11, 2021 Meeting Minutes

Call to Order -Alan Heatherwick

  • At 7:02 pm, our President, Alan Heatherwick, called the meeting to order, and led us in the Pledge of Allegiance

  •  Roll Call -Brad Eike

Brad called the roll with 10 Directors, and 7 members and guests in attendance.

  • Secretary's Report -Charlie Kestel

Charlie made copies of the January 5th.Directors meeting minutes available to all who were in attendance.

  • Alan asked for any comments, and there were none.  Ron made a motion to accept the minutes as published.  Chuck Uthe seconded the motion, and it was passed by all present.

Treasure's Report -Fred Lestina

  • Fred reported income of $125, and expenses of $760.  $750 was advanced to Kim for her work with Advertising and Crafters contracts.  He also paid $10 for renewing our 501 [c] 3, with all paperwork turned in.  That leaves us a balance in the checkbook of $11,826.70.  Jeff Brandau made a motion to accept the report as presented.  It was seconded by Terry Donovan, and was passed by all present.

Old Business

  • Charlie reported speaking to Mike Hillary’s wife, who scheduled our tractor pull for Friday, July 16th.  She sent a contract, which we received on March 1st, that we signed   and sent back.

  • Al reminded that the Kiddie Pedal pull will be scheduled for 1 day only.

  • Brad spoke to the Tordais, and they are willing to bring the horses and wagon back this year.  Mrs. Tordai will be able to put a petting zoo together for us, and she will get back to us with a price.

  • Fred has us on the “Frankfort Brass Band” schedule.

  • Henry has sent out contracts to all the vendors we had at the last show.  We are waiting to hear back from them.

  • The Club assets have been updated, and were presented to two insurance companies   for bids. Both bids were so close, that it was decided to stay with Henning Insurance, which we have been insured by for years.

  New Business

  • Our website was discussed next.  Marty has declined to work with it, so we have contacted Jessica Crane to interview with us this next week.  She submitted a very nice resume, and Jay, Henry, Alan, and Ron will have met with her before our next meeting. She presented a plan to update our web presence, and suggested ways it would be possible to fund raise for the club.

  • Alan and Brad discussed the Pedal Tractor Raffle, and how to sell tickets when Serena, Seneca, and Sandwich shows have been cancelled.  It was suggested that we just sell   raffle tickets for the Avery tractor this year, and change the price of them to $2, or 6 for $10, since it is a “one of a kind”.  We will be able to sell at the Peotone Consignment Auction, and the I & I Show in Rantoul.  It was also suggested that we have tickets printed in the Weekly Review, which people could fill out and mail to us.  Possibly Jessica could come up with a plan to offer them on our website.  We also decided to hold the drawing at the Club Picnic on September 12 or 19th. to give us more time to sell them.

  • The Irish Fest has been cancelled this year.

  • The Club Tractor Drive cannot be held on August 7th. as there is a conflict with that date.  It was suggested we have it either June 5th, 19th, or September 11th. We are tentatively scheduled to lunch and tour Mr. Shoup’s  “NDY Industry.  There will be breaks scheduled in the AM and PM.  There will be no FFA tractor ride leaving from our showgrounds this year.

  • The Club Plow Day will be held July 31, 2021

Brad’s Summary

  • Brad thanked Larry Marek for donating the Avery pedal tractor, and Bev and Bob Homerding for donating the AC pedal tractor.  If we only raffle the Avery this year, the AC will be offered next year.

 Open Discussion

  • Henry suggested that Rev. DeVries hold a church service at 9 AM on Sunday Morning.

  • Jean and Charlie offered to host the Picnic at their farm, unless someone has a different suggestion.

  • It was announced that Butch is staying in a home in Watseka, and is not doing very well.  Also, John Dollinger’s mother passed away several weeks ago
