Old Business

  • Fred told us about his experience playing with the Frankfort Brass Band, for the latest Honor Flight. There were 117 Veterans that were flown to Washington DC for the day. When they were scheduled to return, they were delayed because the flight crew was out of time, then they had to wait for a new plane, and they didn’t arrive back in Chicago until 1:45 am. All this time the band waited to play for them as they exited the plane. That earned a round of applause. John Kestel added that he is in charge of a group of vets that offer a final service at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, and whenever he calls Fred to play “Taps,” he never refuses. They sometimes have 4 funerals scheduled in an hour.

  • Al proceeded with the work plans to put on our show. First off, there will be a Director’s meeting each morning at 7:30am., before the show opens for the day. The Saturday before the show, they would like to have 2 fencing crews of 3 or 4 men. That same day, they would like to make bundles of wheat, to have on hand to feed into the thresher each day

  • Al asked for a progress report on our scale and found that we are still waiting for parts.

  • Lane reported that we had 15 people in our entry for the 3rd of July parade. He thought the participation was great!

  • Dave Wehrmann reported that the 2000# and the 3000# SF Tractor classes were a go. Some of the lawn tractors were weighed on Friday, after the big tractors were weighed. There was a plan B to weigh the garden tractors for Saturday too.

  • Kim said she will be available to check in crafters and flea marketers after noon on Wednesday.

  • Bob reported on the repairs he made to water and dust wagons. He installed a new pump and plumbing where needed.

New Business

  • We plan to have our appreciation dinner on Thursday.

  • Wednesday Al will be interviewed by WVLI radio station.

  • Kim reported that she has 13 crafters and 35 vendors signed up.

  • Henry has 6 vendors this year. Sweet corn being the new offering.

  • Charlie reported that we are all set for the Antique tractor Pull on Friday. The sled will come with it’s own scale, and we can weigh the garden tractors on it too.

  • The gate flyers and parade numbers are here in the office.

  • Brad reported that the kids pedal pull and Magic show are all set for Saturday and Sunday.

  • The 60th Banner sales are doing well too.

  • Al announced that there will be a 30-minute Church service at 8am Sunday morning, for all who are interested.

  • We hope to have the office trailer onsite on the 10th and set up will start on the 16th. George Schaaf will begin to move his tractors in on the 14th.

  • Andy Partak said there is great interest in the Civil War encampment within his group. They will have 22 people, horses, canon, and 13 tents to start setting up at 3 pm. on Friday. They have plans to have skirmishes and will lead the Parade of Power with the flag, every day.

  • Ron has taken care of securing the picnic tables for the family tent.

  • Fred said that the dumpster will be delivered on Monday. The tents will be here on Tuesday

  • Al reminded everyone of the Tractors for a Cure ride on August 6th and also that clean-up will start July 25th.
