Call to Order
Brad called the meeting to order at 7:05 pm, and led us in the Pledge of Allegiance
Roll Call -Lane Heatherwick
Lane called the roll. There were 11 directors, and 26 members and guests present.
Secretary's Report -Andy Rousonelos
Brad asked if everyone had received their minutes, and if there were any additions or corrections. Russ offered the correction that he was not present when the corn crib was filled, as mentioned in the November minutes. Russ made a motion to accept the minutes as published. Bob seconded that motion, and it was passed by all present.
Treasure's Report -Fred Lestina
Fred reported we had income including $400 towards new folding tables, and $51 from raffle ticket sales at the Newark Toy Show. Expenses included $2,056.50 for our insurance policy installment, $525.46 for snail mail newsletter supplies, and $170 donated to the Wreath’s Across America project at Abraham Lincoln cemetery. Jerry made a motion to accept the report as read, it was seconded by Ron, and it was passed by all present.
Old Business
Brad reported that several members have been under the weather recently. Jack Toepper returned home after another stroke and isn’t doing very well. John Cronin is in a rehab center trying to regain his strength to go back home. John Kestel has been unable to walk and has had several weekly visits to the VA Hospital. Monroe Striggow is hospitalized at Loyola with lung issues. Mel Meinheit has returned home after surgery to help a brain bleed. He is also receiving therapy. Get-Well cards were signed for all, with well wishes, as well as hopes for a good report next month.
Jerry reported that the firewood splitting day at his place went very well, with 18 volunteers. 3 wagons were loaded with firewood, as well as 3 crates for use at the show. There is more firewood at Lane’s to split at a later date. Thanks to Jerry and Carmen for storing the logs for the last year, as well as morning refreshments. Thanks to Bob and Monroe for use of their log splitters, and thanks to Chuck, Lane, Russ, Jerry, Charlie, Jeff, Steve, Ron, Bob, Dennis, Jim, Kyle, Brittany, Jackson, Kaela, Dylan, Andy, and Paul
Chuck and Brad sold tickets at the Newark FFA Toy Show. The crowd was thinner this year, but they sold 27 pedal tractor tickets and 45 toy tickets.
The Central Illinois Green Club is interested in a joint tour with us again this winter. Brad spoke to Fair Oaks farm in Indiana about a group tour of their educational facility on cows and pigs. The date options were January 24, January 31, or February 7. January 21 was chosen with the other dates as possibilities for weather delays. The cost per person on the tour will be $22, and the tour lasts approximately 4 hours. Brad also mentioned that he and Craig are looking into a bus for travel there and back instead of everyone driving themselves. More information will follow.
New Business:
Lane reminded everyone that June 6 will be our tractor drive. He is continuing to work on a route, with a potential lunch near Manteno.
Lane has been in contact with a representative of the Solar Company who is working with Hillers for the use of their farm next to the showgrounds. We currently rent the small shed on the property to store some of our smaller items, and we wanted to make sure they have no plans to demolish the shed. Presently they want to keep the shed, as well as the culvert in front of it, and they have made note that we have items stored in the shed.
Brad reminded everyone that the Christmas Party will be held on January 11, at 2 PM at the church hall. 2 hams and 2 turkeys have been donated, and we are looking for silent auction items to be donated as well. Please bring a dish to pass by last name:
A-F: Vegetable Sides
G-M: Desserts
N-S: Salads, Deviled Eggs, and rolls,
T-Z: Hot Potatoes and Stuffing
Club will provide Beverages and Table Service
Lane gave an update on the Case CC Tractor that was donated in the fall. The Carburetor is currently apart for repair, and he brought it along to show. Steiner did not have the necessary parts, and referred him to McDonald Carburetor who had the correct components. The tractor had magneto work before it was donated, as well as good rear tires and great paint.
New members Dean and Kyle Cunning from South Wilmington were introduced. They have also joined the Green Club.
Adjournment:
Pat made a motion to adjourn the meeting. It was seconded by Alan and was passed by all present.
